Overview
After your initial setup (see Onboarding from a Purchase Order) you can add additional payment accounts at any time — typically when you start receiving payments in a new country, or want to keep multiple businesses' finances separate.
The flow looks like the last three steps of onboarding, but shorter — your account and basic business details already exist, and you've already accepted the MarketPay terms. You only need to provide what's specific to the new account:
- Select Country — the country the new account is for.
- Payment Account — the platform's payment partner collects the business-level compliance info for the new country.
- Beneficiary Details — your bank account for receiving payments.
Supplier payment accounts are provisioned through one of the platform's payment partners — currently Stripe or Airwallex. The platform chooses the partner for each account; the embedded compliance step is powered by whichever partner backs yours, and the flow looks the same either way.
It typically takes around 4 minutes.
Where to find it: Payment Accounts from the left sidebar.
1Start a new payment account
Open Payment Accounts from the sidebar. The list shows every payment account you currently have, with its country and status.
Click Create payment account in the top-right of the page.
You're taken to a full-page editor with three stepper labels:
- Select Country
- Payment Account
- Beneficiary Details
The header reads Create account. The back-arrow next to it returns you to the list — useful if you change your mind before saving.
2Select Country
The first step is the country picker.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Country | The country your new payment account is for. The dropdown lists every country Axiom supports for supplier payments. |
Click Next once you've picked. The platform creates the payment account record in the background and moves you on to the next step.
Note: the country can't be changed later. Pick carefully — if you started the wrong one and don't want to keep it, you can delete it from the Payment Accounts list and start again.
3Payment Account
This is where your account's payment partner collects the business-level compliance information for this country. Bank details are not asked for here — they come in the next step.
The embedded compliance widget — Stripe or Airwallex, depending on which partner backs the account — walks you through whatever's needed for the country you chose, typically:
- Legal business name as registered in the new country.
- Business type (sole trader, limited company, partnership, etc.).
- Tax / registration identification number for the country.
- Business address in the new country.
- Beneficial owner / director details plus identity verification documents.
When you finish (or close) the widget, the flow moves on to the last step.
Tip: you may need different documents for each country — local registration certificates, in-country addresses, and locally-issued IDs are common. Gather them before you start so the step doesn't stall.
4Beneficiary Details
The Beneficiary Details step asks where payouts for this account should actually land. This step uses Airwallex to build the form, and the beneficiary data is attached to the payment account on save (same as in onboarding).
The fields are loaded dynamically based on the country you selected and the transfer method you pick (local bank transfer, wire, etc.). Common fields include:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Transfer Method | A radio card for the rail (e.g. Bank Transfer, Wire Transfer). |
| Account Holder Name | The name on the bank account, exactly as your bank has it. |
| Bank Country | The country in which the account is held. |
| Currency | The currency the account receives. |
| IBAN / Account Number | Your local equivalent for the country. |
| SWIFT / BIC | Required for international wire transfers. |
Click Next when every required field is green. The new payment account is saved and you're returned to the Payment Accounts list — the new account appears in the table.
Pausing and resuming
You don't have to finish in one sitting. If you close the page after Select Country but before completing the compliance widget:
- The next time you click Create payment account, the flow detects that an unfinished account exists, regenerates a fresh authorisation with the payment partner, and resumes you on the Payment Account step.
- You won't be charged or double-billed — the in-progress account stays in pending state until you complete the compliance step.
If the account ever shows as completed elsewhere (e.g. you finished it through another route), the resume logic clears the in-progress state and drops you back to the list.
Responding to verification requests
After you complete the compliance step, the payment partner reviews (and periodically re-reviews) your account. Each payment account carries a verification (KYC) status you can see on the account:
| KYC status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| INIT | The account exists but compliance information hasn't been submitted yet. |
| SUBMITTED | Your information is with the payment partner for review — including when they've come back asking for more. |
| SUCCESS | Verification passed; the account is active. |
| FAILURE | Verification failed or the account was suspended. Contact Axiom support. |
Requests for information (RFIs)
Sometimes the payment partner needs more detail during its review — an extra document, a clarification on a beneficial owner, and so on. When that happens on an Airwallex-backed account, the platform surfaces the request for information on the payment account, and you respond in an embedded flow right on the page — the same in-page experience as the original compliance widget. Answer what's asked and the review continues; there's no email back-and-forth with the partner.
Syncing a stale status
Status changes normally reach the platform automatically. If your account's status looks out of date — for example, the partner has told you verification passed but the account still shows as under review — use the account's Sync action to pull the latest state straight from the payment partner.
Tips & good practice
- One account per country. You can only hold one active payment account per country — the payment partners and your bank both work on one account per legal entity per country.
- Match the bank country to the business country where possible. Some currencies route faster through local rails than wires; matching the bank country to the business country usually means lower fees and quicker payouts.
- Pause the flow if you don't have the documents. The in-progress account is held for you; resuming is preferred over deleting and restarting.
Troubleshooting
My country isn't in the dropdown. The payment partners don't yet support every country. If yours isn't listed, contact Axiom support — they can advise on alternative routes.
The compliance widget asks for documents I don't have for this country. The requirements are set by the regulator in the country you picked, not by Axiom. Typical asks are a local business registration certificate, an in-country address, and a locally-issued ID for a director. Gather them and resume.
I created an account in the wrong country. The country can't be changed. Delete the account from the Payment Accounts list and start a new one in the right country.
I closed the page mid-compliance-onboarding. Click Create payment account again from the list — the flow resumes at the Payment Account step with a fresh authentication.
Beneficiary fields look different from another account I have. That's expected — the schema is country- and transfer-method-specific. Choose the transfer method that matches what your bank actually supports.
Need help?
Contact Axiom support and include the country of the new account and the step that failed. The support team can see the in-progress record and confirm what the payment partner is waiting on.
